UPLS Wins the ACS 21st ChemLuminary Awards

The ACS National Meeting in San Diego, it was announced the Upper Peninsula Local Section was the winner of the ChemLuminary Award for “Best Activity or Program Stimulating Member Involvement.” Thank you for all of your support!

The UPLS Fall meeting will be held on Friday, October 25 beginning at 3 pm at Michigan Technological University Campus (Houghton). The guest speaker will be Rudy Luck, with the presentation entitled “Celebrating D. I. Mendeleev and the Periodic Table.”

Remote locations will be connected via video conferences. Please mark your calendar and will announce details as decided!

The ACS will once again be hosting Program-in-a-Box on October 22 at 6:45 pm EST. The event will be streamed with locations at MTU, NMU and LSSU (rooms TBA). The title will be “Marvelous Metals.”

The UP Local sections is seeking nominations and self nominations for 2020 officers with the election to be held in November. Eligible nominees must be ACS members of the Upper Peninsula Local Section. Nominations can be sent using the form below, and must be made by 5:00 pm (EST), October 28.

Nominations are open for the positions below. Duties of each position and eligibility can be found here.

  1. Chair Elect (3-year term: chair-elect in 2020, chair in 2021, past-chair in 2022)
  2. Treasurer (2-year term)
  3. Member-at-Large (2-year term)
